Integrated thermostat for automatic protection
Frostsafe includes its own thermostat, so it turns on once there is a risk of your pipes freezing, but turns off again once temperatures rise so it doesn’t waste electricity.
Simple to fit
Frostsafe is simply cable-tied onto the pipe you wish to protect, and then any standard pipe-lagging can be used to cover the pipe and heater. Once in place an electrician can hard wire it into a fused spur, or it can be powered by a suitably fused plug.
Simple solution to a devastating problem
Frozen and burst pipes can lead to broken boilers, property flooding and cut-off water supplies. Frostsafe provides a simple to fit, permanent solution to these issues.
As insulation levels have improved in properties around the UK our lofts and attics have become colder, and water pipes in those areas are put at increasing risk from freezing temperatures in the winter.
During prolonged periods of sub-zero temperatures water pipes can freeze regardless of the level of pipe-lagging around them, and that is where active solutions like Frostsafe come into their own.
Frostsafe’s internal thermostat monitors the temperature of the pipe beneath the lagging. When that temperature falls towards freezing the heater turns on, evenly heating the pipe along its length and ensuring it doesn’t freeze which could risk a burst pipe and serious flooding.
Many modern gas boilers use a condensate pipe on the outside wall of the property to provide a drain for the water that builds up within them. If this pipe is blocked by freezing temperatures the boiler cuts out, and your heating and hot water can fail when you need them most.
Frostsafe prevents the condensate pipe from freezing by providing targeted heat to the pipe when it is needed most, ensuring that your boiler can work in temperatures down to -25°C.
Best of all, Frostsafe is fantastic value for money and for most boilers Frostsafe can be purchased and installed by an electrician for less than the cost of a single emergency call-out on a boiler.
Once fitted Frostsafe really is a zero-maintenance product. It continues to monitor your water pipes 24 hours a day only calling for heat when temperatures fall towards zero. The product is covered by Heatcom’s manufacturer’s 10-year warranty and has a design life of over twenty years in average conditions.
Frostsafe is fully earthed for electrical safety and includes warning stickers for installation on your pipe-lagging to warn that there is a live electric product installed on the pipe.
Frostsafe is designed to protect water and waste pipes through Scandinavian winters and can cope with the coldest temperatures that the UK has ever seen.
When fitted to our recommendations it can deal with sustained temperatures of -25°C, something the Met Office expect we will never see in the UK again with global warming. With Frostsafe providing frost protection on your pipes you can be confident that they will never freeze, whatever the UK winter throws at them.
With its dedicated thermostat monitoring the pipe temperature Frostsafe provides 100% protection for less than 70p a metre in standard UK conditions.
Frostsafe has been used to prevent frozen pipes in a huge variety of situations including:
• By private homeowners
• By Housing Associations
• In industrial properties such as warehouses and offices
• For static and mobile caravans and park homes
• For temporary water supplies
